A typical modern Rolex movement should winds automatically and reserves power for at least 24 hours to 36 hours in the mainspring when you wear every day. The power reserve hours for your particular model should be stated in the manual.
How to test your mainspring reserve power
1. Wind the crown manually for 40-50 rotations clockwise. The mainspring has a feature that prevents it from becoming overwound, so you should be fine.
2. Set it down and leave it there until it stops running.
3. If it takes over 24 hours, you know that you are not being active enough to keep it running. You can buy a watch winder or manually wind 3 – 4 times each evening. However, this will wear your crown and stem out quickly if you manually wind too often. This is an indication that you need to overhaul your watch.
